Session description:
Halfway to 2030, the call to action is louder than ever. New global realities are intensifying pressure on our ambition to halt and reverse nature loss. Yet the rationale remains unchanged, restoring nature is both an environmental and economic imperative.
This opening plenary will spotlight the Summit’s core theme: nature as a strategic ally for business resilience and competitiveness, now and into the future. Leaders from business, policy, and civil society will share insights on how they are enabling and accelerating credible and collective business action to unlock nature-positive business transformation.
Speakers will demonstrate how integrating nature into business strategy to strengthen resilience and boosts competitiveness is not only possible, but already underway. They will also emphasise the need for credible, time-bound and measurable targets, challenging business to adopt ambitious objectives and deliver impact.

This high-level dialogue will spotlight how the finance sector can move beyond pledges to deliver measurable impacts on biodiversity. It will explore strategies to both reduce harmful financial flows and activities that drive biodiversity loss and increase capital and financial activities directed toward restoring and protecting ecosystems. The session will discuss approaches for transforming portfolios, investment decisions, and finance actvities, aligning them with global biodiversity goals, and fostering systemic shifts in the real economy. It will also highlight enabling policies, regulatory frameworks, and public and private collaborative efforts needed to mobilise and scale finance, ensuring that commitments are translated into concrete, positive outcomes for biodiversity.

Part I: Business Action — This section will showcase innovative strategies and real-world examples of how companies are driving circularity to regenerate ecosystems and unlock new value.
Part II: Policy Action — This section will examine the EU’s forthcoming policies and how they can be harnessed to accelerate the transition. Special focus will be placed on leveraging the EU Single Market as a catalyst for European competitiveness and resilience.
