Developing National Restoration Plans under the EU Nature Restoration Regulation – terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems

This 3-day in-person event, hosted at DG ENV premises, brought together over 130 representatives from Member State authorities, policy advisers, the European Commission (DG ENV, DG AGRI) and the EEA to support the preparation of National Restoration Plans, with a focus on terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems.

Discussions across plenary sessions, working groups and peer-to-peer exchanges highlighted key conditions for National Restoration Plans to be credible and implementable, notably the need to frame NRPs as delivery-oriented plans, ensure cross-sectoral integration, and put in place robust governance, knowledge and implementation arrangements.
